WWE News: NXT Change in Format This Week with No Live Matches

TJR Wrestling

The Cornavorirus pandemic (aka COVID-19) has changed a lot of things in our world and it has had a massive effect on how WWE does business. The last episodes of Smackdown and Raw took place at the WWE Performance Center with no fans in attendance. Last week’s NXT also took place at the WWE PC with fans because Full Sail University was being used and that was actually the last WWE show with fans since the big shift in how to deal with COVID-19 is by doing social distancing. That means limiting events with crowds.

This week’s WWE NXT show is going to be different as well because WWE has announced there will not be any matches. Here’s a statement from a WWE spokesman to PWInsider and other websites today.

“Tomorrow night’s NXT will air as regularly scheduled in a modified format with elements ranging from in-depth character profiles and story breakdowns as well as never-before-seen interviews and content.”

This is a change from what WWE posted yesterday on NXTTickets.Ticketforce.com earlier in the week.

This Wednesday night, NXT will air live as regularly scheduled and emanate from WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida with only essential personnel in attendance. The event was originally scheduled at Full Sail Live. Refunds are available at point of purchase.

WWE NXT IS LIVE EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON THE USA NETWORK & AT FULL SAIL LIVE ON THE CAMPUS OF FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY!

2020 NXT TV DATES AT FULL SAIL LIVE WILL BE RELEASED SOON.

The WWE NXT Takeover Tampa event that was scheduled during WrestleMania weekend has been canceled, which we covered here on the site yesterday.

This Friday’s edition of Smackdown and next Monday’s Raw are both expected to take place at the WWE Performance Center as scheduled. In today’s world, things are always changing.
