WWE News: Luke Harper Returned to In-Ring Action at WWE Live Event in Hometown

TJR Wrestling

There’s some good news to report tonight because a familiar face is back in a WWE ring after a long layoff.

Luke Harper made his return to action at the Raw live event in Rochester, New York tonight when he defeated Mojo Rawley in a short match. Harper lives in the Rochester area. Harper teased his return earlier today with this tweet.

This was Harper’s first match since he and former Bludgeon Brothers tag team partner Rowan lost the Smackdown Tag Team Titles to the New Day in late August. The reason they lost the titles that day was that Rowan needed surgery on his arm. Rowan returned at the Royal Rumble in January to help Daniel Bryan beat AJ Styles and retain the WWE Title.

Harper was on the shelf for over six months because he had wrist surgery. Not much else is known at this time about why he missed so much time, but it’s great to see him back in action.

Here are some tweets from fans at the Raw live event in Rochester tonight that I found using the #WWERochester hashtag.

TJR Thoughts: Welcome back, Luke. The talented big man turns 40 years old this year and is considered by many fans (including me) to be one of the most underrated wrestlers in WWE.

I don’t know if being at a Raw live event means anything in terms of what show he’ll be on when he’s back on TV. I think he could definitely show up at Fastlane tomorrow to help Daniel Bryan retain the WWE Title and then Harper would be on Smackdown with Rowan again. I think he was just there tonight because he’s cleared to return and also it was his hometown. You can see one of his two sons with him in the pic there.
