WWE News: “Loser Eats Dog Food” Match Being Advertised for Live Event, Randy Orton Leg Injury

TJR Wrestling

The rivalry between Roman Reigns and King Corbin on the WWE Smackdown brand has become very personal over the last few months. In order to make things even more interesting, WWE has decided to add a stipulation to their matches at upcoming live events.

At next week’s WWE New Year’s Revolution Supershow (Raw and Smackdown rosters on the same show) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Saturday, January 4th, one of the matches being advertised at the Show Me Center is a “Loser Eats Dog Food” Match.

Here’s what is advertised on the Show Me Center website:

– The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan vs. The Fiend Bray Wyatt for the WWE Universal Championship

– Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin in a Loser Eats Dog Food Match

– Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

– Plus, SmackDown Tag Team Champions – The New Day

Since they are doing the “Loser Eats Dog Food” match at this live event, WWE could do it at other live events and maybe even do it on TV at some point. It’s fair to assume that the babyface Reigns will likely win these dog food matches against the heel Corbin.

The reason for the “Loser Eats Dog Food” stipulation goes back to the December 6th edition of Smackdown (see the video above) when King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler poured dog food on Roman Reigns, who is known as the Big Dog.

TJR Thoughts: It’s a unique stipulation for the match. It’s likely fun for the live event audience to see something like that and to see the heel Corbin humiliated in those matches. It’s silly, but that’s pro wrestling. Think of an 8-year-old kid at the show that will likely remember that match and stipulation for the rest of their life. That’s why it’s important to do some unique stuff at live events sometimes.

* In other WWE live event news, Randy Orton suffered a leg injury during his match with AJ Styles at a live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania this evening. The match ended when Orton went down with a leg injury.

Thanks to Twitter user David Molesevich for posting the video.

As you can see in the video, Orton went down against the turnbuckle, the doctor checked him out along with the referee and Orton was grabbing at his left leg.

Orton has been selling a left knee injury on Raw over the last two weeks. It’s possible this is just a storyline, but WWE typically won’t stop a match due to injury at a live event unless there’s concern about an injury.

UPDATE: It’s been reported by the Wrestling Observer that Orton’s left knee injury is just a storyline. He’s going to be fine.
