It was announced last night that Asuka will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair next Monday, June 22 on Raw. That episode of Raw was taped two days ago on Wednesday even though it was originally planned for Tuesday, but WWE’s tapings were delayed due to Coronavirus testing.
The reason Flair is getting the title shot is because she beat Asuka in a 27-minute main event match on the June 8 edition of Raw. Asuka lost in part because Nia Jax showed up at ringside and Flair took advantage of the distraction to kick Asuka in the head and beat her. Here’s more from WWE.com about the match.
The Raw Women’s Championship will be on the line this Monday when Asuka defends her title against Charlotte Flair during a Championship Monday edition of Raw.
The bout comes in the aftermath of The Queen’s fiery tirade on Raw Talk this past Monday, when she lashed out at anyone daring to call her entitled. She also noted that she has yet to receive a title opportunity, even after pinning Asuka twice in recent weeks.
Asuka, of course, is coming off a victory, albeit a controversial one, over Nia Jax this past Monday. Will she be able to fight off The Queen? Find out on the Championship Monday edition of Raw, this Monday at 8/7 C on USA!
Another story related to the match is that WWE is “reviewing the conduct of Nia Jax and referee John Cone following Raw.” That’s because Jax shoved Cone during her Raw Women’s Title match with Asuka on Raw and then Cone did a bit of a fast count to give Asuka the win over Jax.
The reason WWE is calling it Championship Monday is because the Raw Tag Team Titles will be on the line with The Street Profits defending against Viking Raiders. Also, the Women’s Tag Team Titles will be on the line with Sasha Banks and Bayley defending their titles against The IIconics duo of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay.
There’s no word yet on if Raw’s other champions, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and 24/7 Champion R-Truth, will have their titles on the line on Championship Monday.
TJR Thoughts: I get the feeling that Nia Jax is going to show up to cause a disqualification or a something cheap for the finish in the match. It would be a bit of a surprise if there’s a clean finish in the match. I think they’ll do a cheap finish, then do a triple threat Extreme Rules, then either Flair wins there or Asuka retains and they do Asuka vs. Flair at SummerSlam. With that said, I know a lot of fans are going to complain about Charlotte Flair in the title picture again rather than trying to elevate somebody new on Raw. I just think WWE loves featuring Charlotte Flair and she is a very good performer even though there are fans that are tired of watching her. Based on performance, though, Charlotte Flair is one of the best.
Dolph Ziggler May Be Moving to Raw
There could be another WWE roster move in addition to Mustafa Ali heading to Raw. Dolph Ziggler could be there too.
It’s not confirmed by WWE yet, but Wrestlevotes on Twitter noted that Ziggler is heading to Raw as part of the AJ Styles “trade” that moved Styles from Raw to Smackdown recently.

If you go to Ziggler’s WWE.com page, it still says Smackdown for him.
Once again, it’s not official from WWE, but I think Wrestlevotes in terms of reporting news. Nobody gets everything right, but in terms of this case, I think it’s very possible.
