Legendary WWE Figure Makes Oba Femi Pitch: “I Think I Could Help Him”

Oba Femi has caught the eye of a legendary WWE Hall of Fame manager.

Teddy Long is someone who had a long run not only in WWE, but in the pro wrestling world altogether.

While Long spent many years as a manager, he was perhaps best known for his run as the SmackDown General Manager.

At the age of 78, Teddy Long isn’t as active in pro wrestling anymore, but when he was asked by TMZ Sports about current wrestlers he could manage, he mentioned Oba Femi, even though he couldn’t remember his name.

“Man, I think the kid that they just brought in. They kind of, to me, destroyed him a little bit. What’s the kid, the big kid that just worked with Brock? I think I could help him.”

At this point, WWE has yet to give Oba Femi a manager, and they also appear comfortable with Femi doing his own promos, since he’s done well with them after several years on the NXT roster.

Considering Long’s age, it seems unlikely that he would be brought back to manage Oba Femi, but it’s certainly easy to see why Long or anybody would be intrigued by Femi’s future.

Oba Femi beat Brock Lesnar in impressive fashion at WrestleMania 42, and it appeared as though Lesnar was going to retire after the match. However, that was all a ruse by Lesnar, who returned to WWE about a month later and did a cheap attack on Femi.

Brock Lesnar got the win back at WWE Clash in Italy by overwhelming Femi with an aggressive attack and multiple F5s.

Femi bounced back just fine after his Clash in Italy loss by winning a competitive 4-way match to move on in the King of the Ring tournament.

Hall Of Famer Wants Oba Femi To Face Brock Lesnar And Roman Reigns At WWE SummerSlam

The immediate future for Oba Femi is the King of the Ring tournament, where he is in the Semifinals against Dominik Mysterio.

While Femi appears to be the favorite to win King of the Ring and go on to SummerSlam for a shot at the World Heavyweight Title held by Roman Reigns on Raw, there are also some people predicting that Lesnar may cost Femi a King of the Ring match either in the semifinals or finals.

Just like Teddy Long was talking about Oba Femi, so was WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray) on Busted Open Radio earlier this week.

Bubba had the idea that not only should Femi win King of the Ring at the Night of Champions PLE on June 27th, but he should also beat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam Night 1, and then go on to beat Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam Night 2 on August 2nd.

“I want Oba to win the King of the Ring. Oba wins King of the Ring, and Brock Lesnar absolutely decimates him at that. 10 F5s. So now Oba is gonna go on to face Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. Oba is so irate about Brock jumping him again; ‘Give me Brock Lesnar on night one’.

If Oba Femi defeats Brock Lesnar, Brock retires, but if Brock Lesnar defeats Oba Femi, Brock gets his number one contender’s shot and goes on to face Roman Reigns Night Two of SummerSlam. What I just laid out gave WWE an opportunity to make Oba Femi their next mega star.”

If that were to happen, it would obviously solidify Femi as a major WWE star with big wins over legends like Lesnar and Reigns. Fans will have to keep watching to see what happens with Femi in King of the Ring and beyond.
