WWE Legend Warned Wrestling Again Could Be Fatal
A WWE legend and Hall of Famer has been advised against wrestling again.
During his peak wrestling years, Jerry Lawler was one of the top heels, even playing a similar role in the Stamford promotion in the early 90s when he picked up a feud with Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.
While commentating, he usually spoke in favor of the heel characters, his opinions contrasting with those of Jim Ross.
In 2012, he suffered a stroke on live TV during a WWE Raw taping. His then commentary partner, Michael Cole, appeared shaken as he informed viewers about Lawler’s hospitalization.
Since then, ‘The King’ has suffered several strokes. While appearing for an interview on WMC-TV, he revealed that the strokes left him colorblind. However, he also spoke about his desire to compete one more time, something he has been warned against by his peers.
While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross revealed listening to Lawler’s comments about competing again, and hoped that he would not do it.
Former WWE Manager Says Jerry Lawler Could Prove To Be Fatal
Jerry Lawler suffered a third stroke in September 2025. While his approach towards life may be inspiring to some, a former WWE manager has advised him to drop any plans of stepping inside the squared circle again.
Dutch Mantell has said that it was not worth it for Lawler to put his body through such a risk. Mantell’s comment came on a recent episode of his YouTube podcast.
I don’t think he’s in any kind of shape to have a singles match, but I would be very interested in seeing it. But then you have an issue that has to be looked at. What if he dies in the ring? Which is possible (…) I think that would be a very appropriate place for him to go. Which is really sad, but then it’s not sad if you think about it. He would enter another form of the stratosphere called history. I mean, he would always be remembered as dying in the ring. [H/T: Fightful]
