WWE May Have All But Confirmed Randy Orton’s Future With A Big Move
With the reveal of Pat McAfee as Randy Orton’s mystery caller, WWE may have given fans an indication of what’s coming for The Viper, feels former WWE star.
Pat McAfee’s reveal as the voice in Randy Orton’s ears telling him to go to his darkest place to win his 15th World Title has not sat well with fans, critics, and even the company itself.
McAfee’s announcement on SmackDown last Friday of his alliance with Orton and subsequent plan to be on his side as he goes on to “save the business” by taking the WWE Title from Cody Rhodes got an immediate response when Rhodes cut a reportedly unplanned promo later that same night. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk opened Raw this past Monday and also went after McAfee and WWE’s owners, TKO Group, demanding they lower WrestleMania 42 ticket prices to fix the problem of lack of ticket sales instead of injecting McAfee into a main event storyline.
Although this is reportedly a shoot as CM Punk’s promo has officially been labelled a “pipebomb” and Rhodes’ promo was revealed to be unscripted, many fans and critics are still debating whether it was a shoot or a work.
WWE Legend Matt Hardy Thinks Randy Orton Will Walk Away As Champion At WrestleMania 42
Former WWE star Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on the WWE Championship feud in a recent appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring.
Hardy thinks that the Pat McAfee angle is intriguing, and it could end up being “pretty good.” He also strongly predicts Orton to leave ”Mania 42 as the new champion.
Just with this new angle they’ve done, I’ve got a very strong suspicion that Randy Orton is going to leave as the champion, and I feel like Cody will chase, but I’m very intrigued.
I know a lot of people threw their arms up at this angle with Pat McAfee like ‘why is this happening’, but it’s kind of intriguing, and I think, considering how they follow this up and how they follow through with it, it could ultimately end up being pretty good.
With all the backlash from the fans, it seems that WWE is on the path to focus on Orton and Rhodes’ history going into the final two SmackDown episodes before WrestleMania 42.
But McAfee will still be involved in some shape or form in the angle, as it was a decision made because of the corporate synergy between WWE and ESPN, a channel on which McAfee hosts his own sports show.
