Cody Rhodes turning into a heel has been talked about in the past few months.

Rhodes is set to put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. The Viper turned heel on The American Nightmare during their contract signing segment on SmackDown a few weeks ago.

After Randy Orton’s heel turn, it was reported that Rhodes would also bring out a darker side of himself on screen to “fight fire with fire.”

Cody Rhodes Could Be The Next “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Says Kevin Nash

On a recent episode of the Kliq This podcast, WWE legend Kevin Nash talked about Cody Rhodes’ potential heel turn. Nash stated that Rhodes has a babyface appeal like his dad, Dusty Rhodes, but he also has the potential to turn into one of the prominent heels in WWE history, like Ric Flair.

“No, you can turn Cody heel because Cody still gets — like, he has that everyman appeal that his dad had. But it would be so easy to turn that into Nature Boy. I watched him do a thing once, maybe it was his wife that did it. Did an interview, and they were in the trailer, and he had like this rack of f**king suits.”

“And she’s like, ‘These are his suits. And he usually only wears these one time, then he gets rid of them.’ And you’re thinking like, those are [$1,600] to $2,000 suits minimum, and he’s f**king wearing them one f**king day and dumping them?”

Cody Rhodes had a segment with Randy Orton on the April 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. He interrupted Randy Orton’s opening segment promo, after which the fans saw the return of Pat McAfee. McAfee entered the ring and attacked Rhodes with a low blow, officially siding with the Viper, before delivering a controversial promo.

It was reported that TKO CEO Ari Emanuel was the one who decided to bring the former NFL punter into the Rhodes-Orton storyline.
