Potential Spoiler On Cody Rhodes’ WWE Future After Randy Orton’s Betrayal
Randy Orton betrayed Cody Rhodes on the March 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown during a contract signing segment for their WrestleMania 42 match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The segment saw The Viper turn heel and brutally assault The American Nightmare to the point where Rhodes’ entire face was covered in blood.
Due to the vicious assault, The American Nightmare was absent from last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown on March 20. He is advertised to return on the March 27 edition of the blue brand, and according to a new report, Rhodes will return with a change in his character.
WWE Is Planning A Character Change For Cody Rhodes
On the March 24 edition of Self-Made Session, Self-Made Pro revealed that “someone in WWE” told them a character shift is being planned for Rhodes. When Cody returns to TV this week, he will “fight fire with fire.”
When asked to explain, the source said that WWE is portraying Randy Orton as “edgy”, and Cody Rhodes will return with a similar edgy character to match Orton’s tone.
“So I asked someone at WWE, I said, ‘Does this lead to a character shift for Cody Rhodes? What’s the plan here?’ What I was told was that when Cody reemerges on TV for the rest of this build, he will, quote, ‘fight fire with fire.’”
“And when I asked what that meant, they said that the edge Randy is showing right now in this build — Cody is going to show a similar edge in contrast to Randy, or to combat it.”
On this week’s Monday Night Raw, WWE announced that Cody Rhodes will make an appearance on the Pat McAfee show this Wednesday ahead of his return on Friday night’s SmackDown.
