Cody Rhodes’ WWE Return Date Announced Following Randy Orton’s Assault
Randy Orton brutally assaulted Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown a few weeks ago.
On the March 13 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Rhodes and Orton had a contract signing segment for their upcoming WWE Undisputed Championship match at WrestleMania 42.
The segment saw the much-awaited heel turn of The Viper, as he attacked The American Nightmare in the most brutal fashion. Orton made sure to bring out his vicious side to decimate his opponent on the show. The fans in the arena saw Rhodes completely bloodied from the assault.
As a result, Rhodes was absent from this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown on March 20. Instead, Orton had a couple of segments with Matt Cardona, during which Cardona fell victim to Orton’s merciless assault.
Rhodes’s absence from the March 20 episode fueled speculation about his comeback. WWE has recently confirmed that Rhodes will be back on the March 27 episode of SmackDown.
What Did Randy Orton Do To Matt Cardona On WWE SmackDown In Cody Rhodes’ Absence?
On the March 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Matt Cardona confronted Randy Orton in a backstage segment, where he criticized Orton for attacking his best friend, Cody Rhodes.
Orton didn’t like that and shoved Cardona down in anger. Later in the show, Orton cut a promo in the ring where he apologized for being rude to Cardona. The two even shook hands, but things quickly took a turn when The Apex Predator turned on Cardona and low-blowed him.
Orton then tried to recreate the same scenario he did with Cody Rhodes, where he took out Rhodes with the steel steps. However, security intervened before he could do so. Still, Orton managed to land a brutal assault on Matt Cardona, using a steel chair to injure his left hand.
