WWE Star Grateful For Avoiding Injury Against Brock Lesnar – “I’m Glad I Didn’t Die”
A vicious move by Brock Lesnar put fear into another WWE superstar, but thankfully, a serious injury was avoided.
The main event of WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 was a Men’s Elimination Chamber Match with the WWE Championship on the line. During the match, Bobby Lashley was storyline injured when he was attacked in his pod. It was a way to write Lashley out of the match.
Lashley was supposed to be the fifth man in the match, and Brock Lesnar was supposed to be the sixth man in the match. Instead of waiting for his spot, Lesnar broke open his pod and joined the match much earlier than he was supposed to enter the match.
Former WWE superstar Matt Riddle, who was in the Elimination Chamber, explained in a February interview what went wrong when “The Beast” Lesnar went into business for himself inside the Elimination Chamber.
“We’re in the Elimination Chamber in Saudi [Arabia], and Brock Lesnar was supposed to get out last. You know, so you got myself, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley. Seth Rollins buckle bombs Austin Theory into the pod. This is all played to concuss Bobby, and the medical takes him out. So, now everybody is out, but technically, the next entry was supposed to be Bob, but Bobby is not there.
Even though when the bell goes off, his pod lights up, but Brock still has to wait like another five minutes. Now, in that [sic] five minutes, there’s multiple spots, multiple moves that everybody wanted to do to showcase their character work, and everyone was like supposed to get a pin.
Brock Lesnar not listening to anybody but himself and maybe Paul Heyman. Honestly, that guy’s kind of in it to win it for himself. Basically starts flipping up, punches the pod. (…) He punches through it and then, of course, starts kicking it, bust it down. I’m like he is escaping. I guess everybody feed in for a Clothesline or whatever. That’s what we all did.
He doesn’t know what he was doing. He is going in there reckless. Clothesline, F5, Clothsline F5. And AJ Styles was furious, I was furious, Seth, everybody was furious, then he eliminated all of us, and then eliminated Theory, then after the match he’s laughing, and he goes ‘Oh sorry, I forgot.’”
Austin Theory Was Worried About Taking F5 From Brock Lesnar In Elimination Chamber
The final two men in the match were Brock Lesnar and Austin Theory. In an attempt to escape from The Beast, Theory tried climbing the pod and going up the cage even further, but Lesnar got a hold of him. Lesnar gave Theory and F5 off the pod onto the padding below, so Theory landed on his legs. It was a risky spot that led to Lesnar pinning Theory to become the WWE champion.
Thankfully for Theory, he avoided serious injury. However, he told Adrian Hernandez on Unlikely that he realized he couldn’t escape Lesnar.
“I figured that out when I was shoot running for my life from Brock Lesnar. I was like, ‘Yeah, steel cage match. This isn’t it, but it might be now.’ Tried to climb out the top, and I remember looking down and I was like, ‘Cool. He’s like all the way over there. Sweet. I’m just going to reach up and grab one more piece.'”
“I looked down, and he’s just grabbing my leg. And I’m like, ‘Well, I’m effed. This is it.’ And I’m glad I didn’t die on that, because that was so dangerous. It was so dangerous.”
At WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar will face rising star Oba Femi in a battle of two of the strongest men in WWE history, and one of the most anticipated matches on the show.
As for Theory, he’ll be in a 6-man tag team match with Logan Paul & IShowSpeed against The Usos & LA Knight. The WrestleMania 42 lineup is below.
