Why Brock Lesnar Apologized After Making Mistake In Huge WWE Match
Brock Lesnar apologized to some WWE superstars after he screwed up in a match that saw him win the WWE Championship.
The month of February has featured the Elimination Chamber match in WWE for the past two decades. Some of those Chamber matches featured championships on the line, and sometimes they were matches in which the winner earned a championship match.
In the main event of the 2022 Elimination Chamber PLE in Jeddah, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship in a match where Bobby Lashley walked in as the champion.
Early in the match, Seth Rollins gave Austin Theory a Powerbomb into the pod that Lashley was standing in, which led to an angle that saw Lashley leave the match with a concussion. Lashley needed shoulder surgery, so it was a way to write him out of the match.
As the match went on, Lesnar was the last man in the pod. The story was that Lashley was supposed to be the 5th man, but Lesnar kicked open his pod and entered the match even though he was supposed to be the sixth and final man in the match.
After entering the match, Lesnar eliminated Seth Rollins, Matt Riddle, AJ Styles, and Austin Theory to become the WWE Champion in what was not a memorable Elimination Chamber match in terms of match quality.
While speaking to Rewind Recap Relive, former WWE superstar Matt Riddle spoke about what went wrong in the match.
“We’re in the Elimination Chamber in Saudi [Arabia], and Brock Lesnar was supposed to get out last. You know, so you got myself, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley.
Seth Rollins buckle bombs Austin Theory into the pod. This is all played to concuss Bobby, and the medical takes him out. So, now everybody is out, but technically, the next entry was supposed to be Bob, but Bobby is not there.
Even though when the bell goes off, his pod lights up, but Brock still has to wait like another five minutes. Now, in that [sic] five minutes, there’s multiple spots, multiple moves that everybody wanted to do to showcase their character work, and everyone was like supposed to get a pin.”
Brock Lesnar Didn’t Know What He Was Doing In Elimination Chamber Match
Riddle continued by saying Lesnar caused chaos in the Elimination Chamber Match because he got in the ring too early. That led Lesnar to apologize to the guys in the match.
“Well, that happens, Brock Lesnar not listening to anybody but himself and maybe Paul Heyman. Honestly, that guy’s kind of in it to win it for himself.
Basically starts flipping up, punches the pod. (…) He punches through it and then, of course, starts kicking it, bust it down. I’m like he is escaping. I guess everybody feed in for a Clothesline or whatever. That’s what we all did.
He doesn’t know what he was doing. He is going in there reckless. Clothesline, F5, Clothsline F5.
And AJ Styles was furious, I was furious, Seth, everybody was furious, then he eliminated all of us, and then eliminated Theory, then after the match he’s laughing, and he goes ‘Oh sorry, I forgot.'”
Brock Lesnar is returning to WWE television this coming Monday, February 23rd, on Raw in Atlanta. It will likely set up whatever Lesnar is doing at WrestleMania 42 on April 18 & 19, but perhaps it will lead to something else for the legendary WWE superstar.
