WWE Hires Kevin Dunn’s Replacement
Kevin Dunn’s seat might still be warm but the now former WWE executive has been replaced by a new Head of Media and Production.
The wrestling world was stunned when news broke that Kevin Dunn had quit WWE after almost forty years with the company. Dunn was hired by Vince McMahon in 1984 as their fathers had worked together and eventually, Dunn rose through the ranks to become WWE’s Executive Vice President, Television Production – a role he held for twenty years.
Dunn had been a polarising figure to wrestling fans over the years, with loud criticism heard over his number of camera cuts during WWE shows. Dunn had also felt some of the blame over some wrestlers not being pushed and he was not a fan of him – a famous example was Dunn apparently not being a fan of Becky Lynch’s accent during promos. Needless to say, this did not hold her back in the end.
WWE Hires New Production Executive
With a changing of the guard now in full swing in WWE with Dunn seen as one of the last true allies to Vince McMahon, the company has moved quickly to appoint a new Head of Media and Production.
A press release on WWE’s corporate website announces that Lee Fitting has joined the company in that role:
STAMFORD, Conn., January 9, 2024 – WWE®, part of TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO), today announced that media industry veteran Lee Fitting has joined the company this week as Head of Media & Production.
“Lee is a phenomenal leader and executive known for work that generates both critical acclaim and mass appeal,” said WWE President Nick Khan. “Lee will be a tremendous addition to our stellar media and production team and play a key role in helping catapult WWE’s growth.”
Fitting brings more than two decades of production experience to WWE from ESPN, where he oversaw production for tentpole properties including Monday Night Football, College GameDay, the College Football Playoff, and many other properties within the Disney portfolio.
Dave Meltzer confirmed on social media that Lee Fitting is seen as Kevin Dunn’s replacement despite carrying a different job title from Dunn.
