WWE Hall Of Famer Had Recent TV Return Delayed
A WWE Hall of Famer was supposed to return to television to take part in a storyline, but it has been delayed due to another wrestler’s injury.
The main event of the February 6th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw saw Becky Lynch beat her rival Bayley in a Steel Cage Match main event.
Bayley had some help from her Damage CTRL allies IYO SKY and an injured Dakota Kai, but Lynch had some surprising help of her own when WWE Hall of Famer had her back. Lita took care of Damage CTRL outside the cage to allow Lynch to beat Bayley clean in the ring. After the match, Lita celebrated with Lynch about one year after they had a feud over the Raw Women’s Title.
While some might think that a cage match like Lynch and Bayley had was the end of the rivalry, there was apparently a plan to keep it going.
As we have covered previously, Lita’s best friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is expected to be part of this story to help Lynch and Lita. This was originally reported by the WRKD Wrestling Twitter account.
There’s more information that has been revealed by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noting that Stratus was supposed to appear this past Monday on Raw in Brooklyn, but it was canceled due to Kai dealing with an injury. It was noted by Dave Meltzer that the six women were not scheduled for a match at Elimination Chamber.
“Trish Stratus was at one point scheduled for Raw on 2/13 at the Barclays Center but it was canceled. The reports were it was due to Kai’s injury. On paper, it sounds like they were trying to build Lynch & Lita & Stratus vs. Damage Ctrl. We were told that the Stratus angle isn’t dead and that the match wasn’t scheduled for Elimination Chamber.”
“Kai & Sky defending the women’s tag titles against Rousey & Baszler is still on for Mania. Whether that means Damage Ctrl would work twice over Mania or something completely different isn’t known at this point, only that there was a planned angle for this past week to bring Stratus back that was canceled and is still expected to be revisited at some point.”
The injury suffered by Dakota Kai at last month’s Royal Rumble is considered minor, so hopefully, she’ll be able to wrestle soon.
