WWE Hall Of Famer Compares AEW’s Billy Gunn To Daniel Day-Lewis

Billy Gunn Daniel Day-Lewis

One WWE Hall of Famer made a bizarre comparison between AEW star Billy Gunn and Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis.

On the July 22nd episode of Collision, Billy Gunn teased that he was retired as he took off his boots and left them in the ring after he and The Acclaimed lost an AEW World Trios Championship match against House of Black.

In the weeks that followed, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens mourned the loss of Daddy Ass to their team, praising him for his contributions and thanking him during interview segments on television.

However, Gunn’s supposed retirement was short-lived as he made his return on the August 23rd episode of Dynamite, reuniting with The Acclaimed and issuing a title challenge to House of Black for AEW All In. Gunn, Caster, and Bowens successfully defeated House of Black at All In, scoring themselves their first run as AEW World Trios Champions.

Road Dogg Praised Billy Gunn’s Commitment To Character

Speaking about his former tag team partner’s supposed retirement on a recent episode of Oh You Didn’t Know, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg praised Gunn for his “method acting,” likening him to multi-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis.

“Well, look. He’s a wiz-erker. He worked us all. Man, he’s such a method actor. I think he’s very much right next to Daniel Day Lewis, as far as method acting and how far he’s willing to take the secret, with his fake retirement. He took his boots off in the ring. That’s commitment to the act, to the character. Then he came back, put them back on, and won titles with them. Same boots. He’s a worker, man.”
