The mid-2010s were a rough period for Roman Reigns in WWE.

Reigns was chosen as the superstar to replace John Cena as the face of the company. Unfortunately, it was not acceptable to the fans, resulting in him becoming part of a broader wave of fan rejection.

The first booing incident that gained notoriety occurred during the 2015 WWE Royal Rumble, when The Rock helped his cousin win.

From then on, every show Reigns went to, he was booed during his entrances, promos, and wins.

One of the storylines featured him going up against The League of Nations, which comprised Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, and Rusev.

The faction debuted on November 30, 2015, where it aligned with The New Day to defeat Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and The Usos in a 7-on-4 tag match.

Multiple matches were born out of this feud, including a 4-vs-1 match, which Reigns won by defeating the entire stable, and a bout at WWE WrestleMania 32 against The New Day.

Rusev Confirms The True Origin Of WWE Faction

The League of Nations was a short-lived faction, lasting around five months between November 2015 and April 2016.

During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, Rusev revealed that the faction of created only to portray Roman Reigns as a babyface and there was no long-term goals for its members as a unit.

I think they needed somebody for Roman, to be honest. I think that’s how they came up with it. It was not like, oh, we have this great idea for these four guys. I think they needed somebody for Roman to be a babyface, and that’s why they put us together, which was fun. We got a WrestleMania match. I got to eat the stunner from Steve Austin, which was another dream come true.
