WWE Reportedly Done With Major SmackDown Star

WWE Triple H SmackDown

WWE has no plans to use this former SmackDown star ever again.

Tommaso Ciampa has already confirmed that he’s on his way out of WWE after he posted a farewell message on social media, touting his availability to take bookings elsewhere in the very near future.

Ciampa was last seen on the December 19th 2025 edition of SmackDown, where he teamed with long-time tag team partner Johnny Gargano as they lost to Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes. Those fans hoping for one more DIY reunion before Ciampa departs the company, however, will have to deal with disappointment.

Tommaso Ciampa Won’t Be Back On WWE SmackDown

Fightful has reported that Ciampa is not set to appear for WWE again at any further SmackDown shows before his contract expires.

There has been a suggestion that a major promotion could be ready to swoop for the former NXT Champion, and it might not be the one everyone would think.

Johnny Gargano has been left to go it alone following his partner’s exit and has been embroiled in a feud with Nathan Frazer and Axiom that has seen Gargano steal Axiom’s mask and pretend to be the high-flying star on several occasions.

Tommaso Ciampa joined WWE in 2015, joining Gargano in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. A year later, he was officially signed to an exclusive WWE deal with DIY, going on to become NXT Tag Team Champions and one of the most popular teams in the brand’s history.

A shocking split with Gargano led both men to the upper echelons of the NXT roster, with Ciampa eventually becoming NXT Champion in July 2018.
