WWE’s creative team is coming under fire from a veteran for the way they’ve treated this major character on the flagship show.

Triple H and his creative team have been criticised by wrestling analysts, veterans, and fans for WWE storylines in recent months. Major criticisms include repetitive booking on the weekly shows Raw and SmackDown, long, drawn-out rivalries that seem to stay the same and don’t move forward, and characters without an arc or growth.

One example of a character and wrestler who is currently over with the fans is Jacob Fatu. Fatu returned to WWE in January when he interfered in a match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Title.

His feud with McIntyre continued into WrestleMania 42, where the two faced off in an Unsanctioned match. Fatu defeated The Scottish Psychopath by landing his Mighty Moonsault on McIntyre through a table, winning over many fans for his work. He then began a feud with his cousin, World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, whom he has been feuding with since the night after ‘Mania.

Weekly on Raw, Fatu was seen getting the upper hand on Reigns as he would choke the OTC out with his deadly Tongan Death Grip move. He would do the same after their match at Backlash on May 9th, after Roman Reigns won the bout. Fatu was brawling it out with Reigns again on Raw this past Monday, putting him through the announcer’s table and locking the Tongan Death Grip on him yet again.

Many fans and analysts have criticised the repetitive nature of these segments, especially in the main event on Raw. Veteran Tommy Carlucci also gave his two cents about it on Johnathan Coachman’s Behind The Turnbuckle Studios channel.

WWE Veteran Tommy Carlucci Lashes Out At WWE’s Creative

Tommy Carlucci and Gabby were speaking on The Last Word, a show on the Behind The Turnbuckle Studios channel about the Raw episode this past Monday, and both were disappointed with what they saw.

Carlucci criticised the lack of character development for Jacob Fatu in the main event and pointed out that the Tongan Death Grip segment is now becoming repetitive. He, along with his co-host, Gabby, discussed how there was no growth of characters and storylines on Raw this past Monday and over the past three weeks.

I can’t figure out what is going on with this show Raw for the past three weeks. Have you given me
anything at all besides choking out Roman Reigns? Can somebody answer that freaking question now? Can you write
something? Can you build a freaking character? (2:10 onwards)

WWE veteran Vince Russo also slammed the creative team’s work on Jacob Fatu’s character on The Coach & Bro show this week.
