Jacob Fatu’s character doesn’t have a clear direction from the creative team, says WWE veteran.

Jacob Fatu is feuding with Roman Reigns, a rivalry that began after Reigns’ WrestleMania 42 victory against CM Punk, which crowned him the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Jacob Fatu demanded a title shot from his cousin, claiming that he wanted all the riches and glamour that come with being champion so that he could provide a better life for his family. Their feud soon heated up, and bloodline members the Usos on Raw and Solo Sikoa and the MFTs on SmackDown soon got involved in it.

Reigns and Fatu battled it out for the World Title at Backlash, but Reigns came out on top. Despite Reigns’ victory on the night, he was left in tatters in the ring after Fatu choked the OTC out with the Tongan Death Grip after the match. The Samoan Werewolf wouldn’t let go despite the best attempts from security and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce to stop him.

Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns brawled it out on the latest episode of Raw once again in an identical manner as before, and Fatu was seen putting Reigns through the announcer’s table.

With this repetitive story arc, the WWE Creative Team is coming under fire once again, and veteran Vince Russo was recently heard talking about Fatu’s character arc, or lack thereof, on the Coach & Bro show.

Vince Russo Says WWE Creative Have No Idea What To Do With Jacob Fatu’s Character

Vince Russo was responding to a fan email about Jacob Fatu on the Coach & Bro show when he talked about how WWE Creative seemingly doesn’t know what to do with the Samoan Werewolf’s character going forward.

Uh, bro, I think we’ve seen this so many times when somebody’s in a spot where they don’t have a clue what to do with them. And here’s how you know, guys, when they repeat the same thing over and over and over again.

Russo, a former WWE and WCW writer and current head of the creative team at JCW, shared that every character should have an arc and the character’s story should grow every week.

Every week when you’re writing for a character, bro, it should be an arc, and there should be growth every single week.

He concluded by saying that when a character is in the same spot storyline-wise or in repetitive segments, it signals that the creative is unaware of what’s next for the character, despite the wrestler getting himself over with the fans like Fatu has.

When you see the gerbil in the wheel, that’s telling you they don’t have a clue what to do with this guy. He’s gotten himself over, but creatively, we don’t have a clue what to do with him. (1:04:44 onwards)
