WWE Creative Blasted For Major Ronda Rousey Mistake

Ronda Rousey WWE

One WWE Hall of Famer has taken the company to task for the massive mistake they made with UFC legend Ronda Rousey.

Ronda Rousey reinvented the sport of mixed martial arts when she almost single-handedly forced UFC to change their long-time position of not having female fighters, such was her success inside the cage and box office drawing power.

Rousey shot to the top of UFC, instantly becoming Bantamweight Champion and going on to defeat a string of challengers. Her time at the top came to a stunning end thanks to Holly Holm, and a second defeat from Amanda Nunes signalled the end of Rousey’s UFC career.

Rousey burst into WWE at the 2018 Royal Rumble, appearing at the end of the show after Asuka had won the first women’s Rumble match. This led to Ronda Rousey making her in-ring WWE debut at WrestleMania 34, where she teamed with fellow Olympian Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Ronda Rousey Is A “Natural Heel”

Although WWE positioned Rousey as a beloved babyface, fans quickly grew tired of her, with many who followed her MMA career wanting to see the edge that made her a huge draw again. WWE eventually turned her heel in the run-up to WrestleMania 35, where Becky Lynch would defeat Rousey, albeit in controversial fashion. But it was too little, too late, and Rousey was done with the company before a comeback in 2022 that failed to set the world on fire.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff explained why WWE made a huge mistake with Rousey, and said she never should have been positioned as a hero:

Ronda is a natural heel. She should have never been positioned as a babyface in WWE.
