WWE Star Cody Rhodes Has A Secret Ally Of His Own: “He Told Me He Could Help”
After Randy Orton’s alliance with Pat McAfee, Cody Rhodes teases an ally of his own, and it’s not Jelly Roll.
The WWE Championship feud between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton took a controversial turn when a former WWE commentator, Pat McAfee, got involved and aligned with Orton to help him win his 15th World Title and “save the business” from the “corporate champion” Cody Rhodes, as he announced, and bring it back to the level of its glory days from the Attitude Era in the 1990s.
This reveal did not sit well with fans and critics who guessed everyone from Vince McMahon to The Rock as the person on the other side of the phone encouraging Randy Orton’s heel turn.
McAfee has now had two encounters in consecutive SmackDown episodes in which he has attacked Cody Rhodes without a receipt.
However, the American Nightmare seems to be bonding with another celebrity, whom he thinks should have been in McAfee’s place, cutting those promos about bringing back the Attitude Era.
That celebrity is comedian Andrew Schulz, with whom Rhodes has been working in an upcoming Street Fighter movie in which Rhodes plays Guile while Schulz plays Dan Hibiki.
The two seem to have bonded well on the sets of the film, and Rhodes talked about Schulz being his backup at WrestleMania 42 in a recent appearance on Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast.
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Wants Andrew Schulz On His Corner Against Pat McAfee And Randy Orton
Musician Jelly Roll is currently siding with Rhodes and got beaten up by Orton last Friday on SmackDown, but Rhodes, who has now become a fan of comedian Andrew Schulz, wishes for him to be at his side.
Rhodes reveals that Schulz himself told Rhodes that he could help him against McAfee and Orton.
The way Schulz is in the movie really blew me away. I got to see him making people laugh and a couple of sincere moments. He’s a special one. Really special one. He told me he could help me against McAfee,
Cody Rhodes even said that Schulz is like his tag partner and that he wishes it were he who could’ve had McAfee’s promo segment, which Rhodes thinks would’ve worked, as he and Schulz know each other, and he would’ve been confused at the inclusion.
Schulz also started a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter. Everyone, I think, on stage thought the same thing, ‘Okay, we’ll back him because that’s our guy, but ehhh, I don’t know.’ I think it’s only going to get worse. Schulz is ready for a fight. He’s like my tag partner. I’m in. We got his back. Great guy. I wish he had jumped in the ring with his shades on, talking about the Attitude Era while I was laying there confused. I know him.
Cody Rhodes has one more SmackDown appearance to go, in which he can try and get back at Pat McAfee before WWE WrestleMania 42 on Saturday, on night 1, when he faces Randy Orton with his WWE Championship on the line.
