Did 3-Time WWE Champion Get Heat For Sleeping With Stephanie McMahon?

This long-time rumour about a former star being banished from WWE for sleeping with Stephanie McMahon has just been addressed.

Stephanie McMahon has been part of a persistent rumour for decades now, and it involves former WWE star Macho Man Randy Savage.

Savage left WWE (then WWF) in late 1994 to sign for WCW after his contract expired. But there was more to the story. WWE avoided mentioning Savage’s name for years after his departure, and he was not in documentaries, video packages, etc.

Fans hung on to unverified rumours that this was due to an alleged relationship the Macho Man had with then-owner Vince McMahon’s daughter Stephanie when she was younger.

Former WWE Name Jim Cronette Addresses Randy Savage Rumour

Jim Cornette cleared the air about the long-running rumour on his YouTube channel in an episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru.

He said that Stephanie McMahon nor their alleged relationship was the reason behind Savage’s departure. It was, in fact, the brand Slim Jim, which Savage was the face of, a brand that brought the company a lot of money.

When Savage left for WCW, Slim Jim went with him. This was a huge blow for WWE at a time when the company needed the funds.

I don’t think the heat was because of him sleeping with Stephanie.I think the heat was him taking Slim Jim. That Slim Jim thing was quite a bit of money at a time when they really needed it.

He also noted that Vince McMahon tried to retire Savage three years too soon. The reason for the departure wasn’t in effect the night Savage first left, or Cornette thinks that McMahon would’ve given a heartfelt speech.

Vince tried to retire Randy probably two or three years too soon. Whatever caused Randy to be banished forever wasn’t in effect the night he first left, or Vince wouldn’t have given that heartfelt speech.
