WWE Star Had Backstage Heat After Big Match – “We Got In Trouble”
A WWE superstar revealed that they got in trouble after having a championship contender’s match.
There are some moves in pro wrestling that are banned in WWE due to safety reasons. Many of those moves involve wrestlers taking bumps on their head or neck.
It’s a logical move by WWE to want their superstars to remain safe while performing dangerous moves in the ring.
During an interview with Adrian Hernandez, SmackDown’s Jordynne Grace talked about her WWE NXT days when she competed against Giulia in a #1 contender’s match for the NXT Championship in May 2025. Grace was new to WWE at the time and didn’t know the Michinoku Driver was banned, but Grace explained that WWE allowed a modified version of the move.
“I’ll give you a little behind-the-scenes information. We got in trouble for that match. They just said it was too much. I do the Michinoku Driver — at the time, I did not know that they don’t do the Michinoku Driver from Japan here. They do the one where you sit the person out all the way. I didn’t know that was a thing until after this match.
It was not taken very well but I loved the match. I love wrestling Giulia, she’s awesome. I cannot wait to wrestle her again. Those matches are really the best moments for me because that’s when the wrestlers really get to feel something, right? They feel like it’s real. It is real but it’s like real in that moment.”
Like Grace, Giulia is on the SmackDown brand, and she’s the Women’s US Champion. Grace lost to Tiffany Stratton on April 17th’s SmackDown in a #1 contender’s match for a shot at the Women’s US Title.
WWE’s Jordynne Grace Has Championship Aspirations
After joining the WWE main roster in January 2026, Jordynne Grace has competed for the WWE Women’s Championship when Jade Cargill was the champion, and she’s competed in a contender’s match for the Women’s US Title.
In a recent interview, Grace talked about how her career goals have always been to reach WWE and become a champion.
“It’s what I’ve been working toward, I feel like, the past 15 years. Every sacrifice I’ve made, every win, every loss, every title I won at TNA has come down to finally being able to live [my] dream as a WWE champion.”
I want to be the one to give whoever comes in front of me their best match, no matter what. … I always ask the person I’m wrestling with, ‘What was your favorite match?’ They would tell me, I’d be like, ‘We’re going to have a better match than that. We’re going to say it right now and we’re going to speak it into existence.’ That’s what I always want to be for that person.”
If Jordynne Grace were to become a champion in WWE, it would be nothing new, since she was a 3-time TNA Knockouts Champion and held that title for a combined 677 days, the second most in TNA history. TNA Hall of Famer Gail Kim has the record with 711 days for her 7 title reigns.
