AJ Styles is making it clear that a dream match with a legendary wrestler is never going to happen.

The legendary AJ Styles retired after losing to Gunther at the Royal Rumble. In a segment on Raw a few weeks later, Styles left his gear in the ring and made it clear that this was the end for him as a wrestler.

During the February 23rd episode of Raw, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker informed AJ Styles that he would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on the night before WrestleMania 42.

At the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on April 17th in Las Vegas, AJ Styles was the last person inducted, while Stephanie McMahon was the first inductee. Styles spoke eloquently about his long wrestling career, including his runs in TNA, New Japan, and the last decade of his career in WWE.

Considering how good Styles was in the ring right up until his retirement match, there are many people who believe the 48-year-old will wrestle again, but Styles has been adamant about moving on and helping the next generation of WWE superstars.

On a recent episode of his Phenomenally Retro podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer Styles shut down the idea of facing AEW’s Kenny Omega in a match. It would be a dream match between two former IWGP World Champions, but Styles says it’s not going to happen.

“I would have liked to have had a match with him anywhere, but it didn’t happen. I got too old and we went different places. It is what it is, it just wasn’t meant to be.”

“It’s never going to happen. Just throwing that out there, it’s never going to happen. Never going to happen.” (H/T Ringsidenews)

Considering Styles said “never going to happen” three times in a row, it seems like he’s going to stick to his word.

AJ Styles Is Scouting Talent For WWE

As a married father of four, AJ Styles has a busy life at home, and he’s staying busy working for WWE, too. Even though he’s not wrestling anymore, Styles recently spoke about scouting wrestlers who could become future WWE superstars.

“I’ve been going to indie shows and checking those out, just seeing what everyone has to offer and stuff like that. I’m scouring the internet for something that sticks out…if you want to send me that stuff, fine, go ahead, I’d love to see it. So yeah, I’m trying to check out talent and see how much talent is out there.

I know what it’s like to be on the indies and having a job. Traveling on the indies, sometimes it’s hard to get things that you need. And so, if they are as desperate as I was to make it in the wrestling business, then I’d love to see them before anybody else snags them up. That’s the way it is. And hopefully, I’m able to see talent before it’s developed.”

In addition to being a 2-time WWE Champion, Styles was also a former 2-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in NJPW and a former 5-time World Champion in TNA, so Styles certainly knows what it takes to become a major superstar in pro wrestling.
