WWE Accused Of Not Believing In Gunther After John Cena Retirement

WWE has been pushing Gunther as the next “big bad” by having him cut vile promos referencing John Cena.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, The Ring General defeated Cena by making him tap out to his chokehold, thus shocking the entire wrestling world.

Since then, week-after-week, the Austrian has come out and gloated about how he made Cena tap out like a b***h.

During a couple of live shows, he wore a customized t-shirt with the same words, which also showed the 17-time world champion in his chokehold.

While he continues to remain one of the most hated WWE superstars on the current roster, veteran creative writer Vince Russo has claimed that Gunther has been poorly booked.

Speaking on The Coach & Bro Show, Russo said that WWE does not believe in the 38-year-old’s ability as a major heel.

If I have Gunther, it’s heat, heat, heat, heat, heat, heat, heat. Now we’ve got four weeks of no heat. Four weeks of no heat. So again, I’m not going to sit here and say these guys are incompetent. I’m not going to say Triple H is incompetent. I don’t believe that. I don’t believe Triple H is a stupid person. So what’s going on?

It could only mean one thing. They don’t believe in Gunther. That’s what it means to me. So somebody got the favor, but at the end of the day, you don’t believe in a guy like this as a monster heel and book him this way. You just don’t do that.

Gunther Outwits AJ Styles To Win On WWE Raw

On last week’s WWE Raw, Gunther was confronted by AJ Styles, setting up a singles match between them on the January 12 episode in Düsseldorf.

Before the match, Styles vowed to make the Austrian tap out, and that is what he worked towards. On more than one occasion, The Phenomenal One applied the Calf Crusher submission to make his opponent tap out.

In the closing minutes, he tapped out, forcing Styles to let go of the submission. The only issue with it was that the referee could not see him tapping.

Gunther immediately hit Styles with a Powerbomb for a ein-zwei-drei.
