WWE Told 2-Time Champion He’ll Never Be On Television
A former WWE star has made a huge revelation.
Andre Chase first signed with the WWE in 2021. He competed on NXT, where he formed the wildly successful faction called Chase U. The group consisted of Riley Osbourne, Thea Hail, Duke Hudson, and more.
Chase University was able to get over with the fans due to their energy and personality. They also resonated with a lot of the audience because they resembled an educational institution. Andre Chase would even conduct backstage segments in a classroom where he would try to achieve a teachable moment. After the group disbanded, Riley Osbourne and Duke Hudson departed WWE. On the other hand, Andre Chase tried to reboot Chase U with Uriah Connors and Kale Dixon, but this turned out to be a huge failure. In the end, Chase also left WWE. However, it looks like Chase U was never supposed to happen in the first place.
WWE told Andre Chase he would never be on TV
During a recent interview with The Wrestling Classic, Andre Chase revealed that when he first signed to WWE, it was made very clear to him that he was never supposed to be on television. His job was to help elevate some of the younger talent coming into NXT. However, Chase knew that things change in wrestling and he would eventually get his opportunity.
“When I got signed to WWE, it was made abundantly clear I was never supposed to actually be on television. It was at a time after COVID where they had just released a lot of people, and they needed this new crop of guys coming in, like the Bron Breakkers, Tony D’Angelos, Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, the Creeds. They were like, ‘We just need somebody with experience to kind of work with them,’ and I was going to be one of those guys.
They told me before I even signed, ‘Hey, just listen, you’re coming in. We’re going to sign you, but you’re never going to be on television.’ I wasn’t naive enough to think this is exactly what it’s going to be, because wrestling changes every day, especially in a system like WWE. Things change by the hour there. So I was like, this just means for now. If I ever get an opportunity, I know it’ll be fine, and I know that I’ll get to where I want to go.”
The former WWE star further added that he always knew he was going to wrestle, but he wouldn’t be wrestling on TV. He said WWE planned to use him at live events.
“I always knew I was going to wrestle. They just told me I wasn’t going to wrestle on TV.
The idea was that I would always wrestle. It would just be on live events because they were just kind of waiting to come out of COVID, and then they knew we were going back on the road and they knew we were going to have live events again. So it was always going to be a position where I was going to wrestle. I just wasn’t going to wrestle on TV. I was only going to wrestle on the live events.” [H/T Ringside News]
It remains to be seen what’s next for Andre Chase after his WWE exit.
