Why Triple H Wanted To Legitimately Beat Up CM Punk Backstage

Triple H CM Punk

It seems that Triple H wanted to take his frustrations out on CM Punk backstage in WWE in a very real fight.

Ever since CM Punk made his return to WWE in late 2023, he and Triple H have gone to painful lengths to try to prove that they really do like each other. But that wasn’t always the case, and the jury’s still out whether or not it’s the case now.

In late 2011, a feud was brewing in WWE between CM Punk and Kevin Nash, but in the end, the two stars never faced off. Instead, Triple H inserted himself into the whole thing and ended up beating both men in separate PPV matches.

And it seems Triple H took action after one comment from Punk made things personal.

Triple H Wanted To Beat CM Punk

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash explained that Triple H (Paul Levesque) was incensed after Punk made a comment about him and Stephanie McMahon, which led to him getting involved on-screen:

When I was supposed to wrestle CM Punk after I cost him the belt, he said something that pissed off Paul about something with him and Stephanie. And it wasn’t on script. And it pissed Paul off. Paul came back and basically said, ‘You’re not wrestling Punk. I am. I’m beating that motherf**er.’

He was that hot… And it wasn’t like Paul being a character—it was like, ‘Oh, OK, motherf**er. You want to pull them out and measure them? Here we go. Suck on that.’
