Why John Cena Is Pulling Out Unusual Moves As His Retirement Draws Near
John Cena has explained why he’s adding some familiar moves to his arsenal as his retirement from WWE draws ever closer.
John Cena will bring the curtain down on his WWE career on the December 13th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. At Clash In Paris, Cena was in action in one of his final matches as he took on the hated Logan Paul.
Cena pulled out all the stops to defeat Paul, even breaking out some moves which are most associated with other stars. John Cena hit AJ Styles’ Styles Clash, Christopher Daniels’ Angel’s Wings in Paris, while Logan Paul dropped him with Nic Nemeth’s (Dolph Ziggler) Zig Zag.
Speaking on the Clash In Paris post-show, John Cena explained why he’s borrowing moves as time runs out on his wrestling career:
I will say that I’ve had a lot of opponents over the years, and with eight appearances left, I know I’m not gonna be able to wrestle everybody who was influential in my career, but I think you saw tonight, the best way I can say thank you to some of those people who affected my career is kinda pay homage by maybe taking some risks and doing some stuff that I don’t normally do out there.
I gotta shout out AJ. But, I’m just saying, hopefully I can do more of that and take my game to a different level and in turn, do what we’re supposed to do and that’s to entertain the fans.
John Cena Heading To Wrestlepalooza
John Cena only has eight dates left as a WWE star, and he is expected to headline Wrestlepalooza on September 20th against Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar made his shock return to WWE at SummerSlam, where he laid out Cena just moments after Cena lost his WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.
