What Was Liv Morgan Almost Called In WWE?
Liv Morgan recently shared the origin story of her in-ring name.
In her wrestling career, Morgan has represented just one promotion, which is WWE. She signed with the company in 2014, where she began training in the Performance Center.
Her first TV appearance was as a crazed fan of Tyler Breeze on NXT. She started her wrestling journey in the developmental brand as an enhancement talent by the name of Marley, losing to Eva Marie in her debut match.
In December 2015, she was repackaged as Liv Morgan, although the losses kept coming. Her first victory came on the August 31, 2016, taping of NXT, where she beat Aliyah.
Her main roster debut was in November 2017, when she was introduced as part of The Riott Squad alongside Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan.
After her faction’s disbandment and multiple brand shifts, Morgan became a singles competitor. On April 18 at Night 1 of WrestleMania 42, she will challenge for the WWE Women’s World Championship, currently held by Stephanie Vaquer.
Some of her accomplishments in the promotion include Women’s World Champion (x2), Women’s Tag Team Champion (x4), Women’s Crown Jewel Champion (x1, inaugural), and the 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble winner.
Liv Morgan Could Have Been Liv Gallow
In 2026, Liv Morgan is a household name, owing to her in-ring work and title exploits in WWE.
However, to achieve her current status, Morgan had to grind and climb each rung on the ladder. Her Royal Rumble victory in January came after 9 attempts.
During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, she was asked about dealing with the pressure surrounding WrestleMania.
In response, Morgan revealed that she did not feel the pressure at all as she had been preparing to her fullest ability.
She also revealed the story behind her on-screen name, Liv Morgan, which could have been Liv Gallow had she opted for it.
I walked into work one day and they were like, ‘Okay, you’re either Liv Morgan or Liv Gallow, pick.’ I was like, oh. I had known we had Luke Gallows at some point in time there, he wasn’t employed in that moment in time when I was there. But I had known of him and his history. So I was like, I’ll be Liv Morgan, and that was really it.
I never really liked Morgan, now I like it. But I remember, first time signing an autograph, I was like, I’m just gonna sign Liv, and that’s all I’ve done. That just stayed with me my whole career. Only because I didn’t like Morgan.
