Liv Morgan Admits: “I Had To Throw In The Towel”
Liv Morgan is not usually the one to throw in the towel during a wrestling match.
However, on the June 16, 2025, taping of WWE Raw, she did just that.
Known to be a fierce competitor, she experienced an unfortunate incident on that fateful day, where she faced Kairi Sane in a singles match. Seconds into the fight, Sane tripped Morgan, who landed face-first on the mat.
Instead of getting back up, she crawled out of the ring and was seen wincing while clutching at her right shoulder.
She then sat against the barricade and signaled to referee Jessika Carr that she could not compete. The ringside doctor checked up on her and informed the referee of the wrestler’s fate.
With Liv Morgan deemed unfit to carry on, the outcome of the match was ruled in favor of the Pirate Princess.
During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, the 31-year-old addressed her injury, which kept her out until her return at Survivor Series: WarGames in November.
Morgan admitted that she knew something went wrong and immediately threw in the towel.
Yeah, I just took a weird fall, tried to brace myself, which is stupid. As soon as it happened, I knew, just because you can’t feel anything. But first of all, it’s like such an intense pain, then it just goes away, and then you can’t feel anything because your shoulder is just not connected.
So yeah, I knew. I rolled out the ring. I tried to pop it back in. Medical came and tried to pop it back in, and it was kind of just like, I can’t continue, I can’t do anything else. So I had to throw in the towel, which I hated. I think I tried to be really optimistic until my MRI news, I was like, I think I’m okay, but I had done the same thing two years prior. So I knew it wasn’t okay, but I didn’t really want to speak it into existence.
Liv Morgan Discusses WrestleMania Pressure
WWE WrestleMania is the wrestling industry’s grand-daddy, where every wrestler aims to compete at least once in their career.
Liv Morgan has previously been a part of the Show of Shows in the main card as well as the pre-show. However, she has only one victory at the event, which came against Natalya in the WrestleMania 36 pre-show.
On April 18, she will challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship amid a heated feud, which began following her Royal Rumble victory in January.
Speaking on the podcast, Liv Morgan was asked if she felt the pressure challenging for a major title at WrestleMania 42.
Not right now, and not in a bad way. I don’t know. I feel like since I’ve come back from my injury, I’m very much just trying to stay in the moment and be present. Obviously, WrestleMania is heavy on my mind, but I’m not feeling any anxiety or pressure yet. I’m just kind of taking everything day by day and just preparing as best as I can. So no, I don’t feel pressure right now in this moment.
