What Cody Rhodes Hopes To Get Out Of WWE Rivalry With Randy Orton

Since March 13, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton have been involved in a heated feud.

It was the same day when Orton turned heel and mercilessly attacked the champion before leaving him bleeding on the commentator’s desk by the ringside.

Cody was forced to take the next week off to heal from his injuries, but ever since he returned the following week, the two superstars have been throwing fists at one another at every opportunity.

Randy Orton won the rights to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship, then held by Drew McIntyre, by winning the Elimination Chamber match.

However, a week later, the title changed hands when Cody Rhodes defeated McIntyre on March 6, thus becoming Orton’s opponent at WrestleMania 42.

On April 3, The Viper revealed Pat McAfee as his ally, the mystery caller with whom he had been speaking over the last couple of weeks.

Cody Rhodes Not Interested In A Longer Feud With Randy Orton

Before their relationship transitioned into a rivalry, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton shared a close camaraderie.

Orton has maintained that he does not see Rhodes as his rival while attesting to the fact that it was Cody who gave him his blessings to listen to the ‘voices in his head.’

During a recent appearance on the Nikki & Brie Show, the Undisputed WWE Champion opened up on his rivalry with The Apex Predator.

He also stressed that he did not need a long-standing feud with Orton.

I’d like it to be one and done. I hope that doesn’t rain on anyone’s parade, but I’m getting tired of wrestling guys like… you get into these long-standing rivalries and you’re just like, you’re in there. I mean, me and [Seth Rollins] wrestled four times now. And more than that really, but like four, and I think took a great deal out of each other on the way. So I don’t know if that’s what I’m looking to do here, as much as want him to see me. That’s the hill in front of me. [H/T: 411mania]
