Vince McMahon Among Major Names To Reportedly Miss WWE Raw

Vince McMahon makes announcement

According to reports, Vince McMahon was among several big backstage names missing from WWE Raw on Monday night.

The last edition of Raw in 2021 featured the final of the ‘RK-Bro-Nament’ which saw The Street Profits defeat Rey and Dominik Mysterio to be crowned the number one contenders to the Raw Tag Team Championships.

WWE United States Champion Damian Priest also successfully defended his title against Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles emerged victorious from their singles matches. Randy Orton and Riddle also competed in singles action, defeating Alpha Academy members Otis and Chad Gable.

The go-home show for Day 1 on New Year’s Day was meant to see The Miz and Maryse renew their wedding vows with the aid of their suprising wedding officiant, Eric Bischoff. As with most wrestling weddings, things quickly went wrong, with Edge covering the unfortunate wedding party in a classic ‘Brood Bath.’

While the show seemed to go off without a hitch, PWInsider.com later reported that multiple WWE executives were unusually absent backstage. This included:

  • WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon
  • Senior Vice President & Executive Director Bruce Prichard
  • Executive Producer & Chief of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn
  • Producer, on-air talent & Director of Live Events Adam Pearce
  • Senior Producer, Hall of Famer & Vice President of Creative Writing & Booking Michael “PS” Hayes

In the absence of the above executives, John Laurinaitis and WWE lead writer Ed Koskey were reportedly given the reigns for the night.

There is no word if the absences are related to the ongoing COVID-19 situation that saw several big names miss the company’s Boxing Day live event in Madison Square Garden.
