Truth Behind Ex-AEW Stars Miro & CJ Perry’s Break Up
Miro and CJ Perry are back together after an apparent split but did the ex-AEW stars really break up in the first place?
Back in the spring of 2024, reports suggested that Miro and CJ Perry called time on their marriage in the winter of 2023. The pair were married in 2016 and had been in a relationship with one another for a few years before that. The report notes that the pair are simply believed to have grown apart. Neither party filed for divorce and it seems that’s worked out for the best.
Now exactly one year after the first report of their break-up, a new report from TMZ has revealed that CJ Perry and Miro have reconciled and are now back together. The report noted that the two began talking again when Miro returned to the US after a spell in his native Bulgaria. It was noted that the pair spent Christmas together in Bulgaria and a few weeks ago the two renewed their wedding vows in a small Los Angeles church.
But did the split really happen?
Miro & CJ Perry Stage Split For Wrestling Angle?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that he’d been told that the whole split between Miro and CJ Perry was more of a wrestling angle than real life:
According to people who would know, they claim that the split up they did on TMZ was a storyline to further their television angle. Although he did go back to Bulgaria but that they never split. They just had the ceremony and everything like that but I know they’ve been together for a while, that I know.
They did renew their vows the last week on the one year anniversary of them telling TMZ (of the split). I know they’ve been back for a long time, the claim is they never actually split, they just did that as a work.
The last time CJ Perry or Miro were seen in AEW was back at Worlds End in December 2023 when Perry screwed her client Andrade El Idolo to help Miro pick up the win. That proved to be Andrade’s final AEW match before he returned to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble but it was also Miro and Perry’s last appearance.
CJ Perry left AEW in April 2024 and after over a year of absence, Miro was finally let go by Tony Khan’s company in early 2025 with other wantaway stars Malakai Black and Ricky Saints.
During their time in WWE as Rusev and Lana, the pair became embroiled in backstage issues when they announced their real-life engagement during a storyline where they had split up. Eventually that storyline was abandoned and the pair wound up back together on-screen although their prominence was seriously diminished.
