WWE’s recent history with talent releases has been met with criticism.

Fans have often accused the company’s higher-ups of mistreating wrestlers or not featuring them frequently in storylines, and even lowballing their salaries, thus leaving them to decide their fates.

A recent post on X by Tyra Mae Steel, real name Tamyra Mensah-Stock, where she “claimed” being released by the company after she returned to Olympic Wrestling and won honors. However, when she returned to her workplace, she was let go because she had gone behind their back.

What most fans did not read was the final part of the tweet—“So was this a Nightmare or Dream?”

Clearly, Steel was talking about a dream she had, which further highlighted the tension that contracted athletes go through from time to time.

Following her Olympic retirement, Steel joined WWE in May 2023, where she competes on Evolve and occasionally makes appearances on NXT.

A latest report by Fightful Select revealed that Tyra Mae Steel is still a contracted wrestler with the Stamford promotion.

WWE Releases Wrestler After Fan Altercation

While Tyra Mae Steel continues her employment with WWE, a AAA wrestler, Nino Hamburguesa, was released following a fan altercation during an independent show.

In a video that went viral online, Hamburguesa can be seen elbowing a member of the audience, something that was unacceptable to the Stamford promotion’s higher-ups.

A report from Bodyslam revealed that the 30-year-old was let go after orders came from the United States.

Subsequent reports claimed that Hamburguesa’s action was the result of constant heckling by a section of the audience. However, WWE accepted no justifications, finalizing the wrestler’s release.
