Triple H has shared his view on the shocking release of a WWE superstar that upset many fans.

There are some WWE releases that absolutely shock fans of the company, who wonder why they need to happen when the company is making so much money.

From WWE’s perspective, releases are something they are going to do all the time because you can’t use everybody under contract. Sometimes, there are cases where a wrestler isn’t technically released, but they are told that their contract won’t be renewed. Either way, it results in that person not working for WWE anymore.

One of the more shocking WWE talents being told they were not being re-signed was in June 2025, when the legendary R-Truth was told his contract would not be renewed. After WWE fans were outraged by the news, the company re-signed R-Truth, who recently claimed that he signed a four-year deal with the company.

At 54 years old (his birthday is today, January 19th), R-Truth is the oldest full-time wrestler in WWE, unless Chris Jericho returns to the company.

Triple H Claims WWE Never Officially Let R-Truth Go

Paul “Triple H” Levesque is the WWE Chief Content Officer, the head booker on the main roster, and he also oversees the talent roster.

In a preview clip promoting “WWE Unreal Season 2” on Netflix, which premieres on January 20th, Triple H gave his perspective on R-Truth’s contract situation and how he technically wasn’t released by the company. In his comments, Triple H also appeared to be agitated that Truth went on social media to break the news about his contract situation.

“We got to a point in Truth’s run where his contract was coming up. When you are dealing with contracts and money, and you’re very far apart on the numbers and communication breaks down, it’s very easy for both sides to read into the communications differently.

‘Okay, well, if you’re not going to come to us, then, Truth, we’re going to let your contract lapse. Your contract is at the end. We’re not going to renew.’ Knowing that, hopefully, maybe, this will force his hand to say ‘Well, hold on a second, can we talk?’

He immediately went out on social (media) and said he was fired, which he was never fired. Contrary to prior belief, he was never not under contract with us.” (H/T Wrestletalk)

The entire situation left R-Truth emotional, and it also made him appreciate his fans even more, as he said they made him feel like family for the love they showed him when they thought his WWE run was over.
