Trick Williams continues to win over the WWE fans with rapper Lil Yachty by his side.

The United States Champion Trick Williams has only been a WWE SmackDown superstar for over six months, yet he’s already become one of the most popular wrestlers on the blue brand.

Even though Trick started out as a heel, his feud with Sami Zayn (while also involving the Gingerbread Man) ultimately turned Trick babyface. Through it all, rapper Lil Yachty has been by his side.

Lil Yachty is a legit WWE fan who has been going to shows for many years and has often been seen at ringside, but he never became a regular character until this current run as Williams’ ally.

During an interview with Travis Singleton of SneakerReporter, Trick Willy spoke about how Lil Yachty loves WWE.

“Lil Yachty—man, he’s a guy who obviously loves the business. He doesn’t necessarily need to do everything that he’s doing because he’s had, and is having, a very successful hip-hop career, movies, everything like that.

The truth is, he just loves the business. That’s why he has come to all the shows for years now. Opportunity came before WrestleMania—they wanted to get him involved in some way.”

When WWE approached Trick and Yachty about working together, both guys liked the idea.

“They said, ‘How would you feel about walking out with Trick Williams?’ They asked him and they asked me.

I thought it was dope, he thought it was dope, but he was like, ‘Man, if we’re going to do this, I don’t want it to be a one-week type thing. I want to have some real storyline going into this. Let’s make this a moment instead of a random one-off.’”

Trick Williams Claims Lil Yachty Is Putting In The Work

It has been reported that Lil Yachty has been training to wrestle, and there’s even film of him working out at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

Trick Williams even confirmed it when he talked about training with Yacthy.

“He has been locked in ever since. Shoot, we’ve got training in about an hour—we make sure that he’s getting active, he’s getting the full experience of being a superstar here with us.”

Williams also made it clear that he’s close with Yachty in the ring and outside of it too, while noting that they spend a lot of time together.

“That’s my boy, man—inside the ring, outside the ring. I probably spend more time with Yachty than most other people who are in the business who are my co-workers.”

On the June 12th edition of WWE SmackDown, Trick Williams and Lil Yachty were in the ring doing a promo when they were interrupted by Ricky Saints and Carmelo Hayes. That discussion led to a match being set up.

The next time Trick Williams defends the US Title will likely be at Night of Champions on June 27th, when he faces either a former US Champion, Carmelo Hayes, or Ricky Saints. Hayes and Saints will have a match on the June 19th SmackDown to determine who the next title challenger will be.
