A WWE legend thinks that Trick Williams did something wrong on SmackDown.

The United States Championship was featured heavily on WWE SmackDown in St. Louis. Trick Williams and his rapper friend, Lil Yachty, made their entrance before the US Champion Sami Zayn could do his promo that was scheduled for the show. Williams will challenge Zayn for the US Title at WrestleMania 42.

Sami Zayn confronted Trick Williams in the ring and said he’s going to humble Trick’s a** at WrestleMania 42. Trick mocked Zayn’s ginger hair by calling him “Gingerbread Man” and “Ginger Ale” among other things during his promo.

Carmelo Hayes went out to the ring as well and mentioned that he only lost the US Title to Zayn because Williams got involved, so Melo wanted a shot at Zayn’s title. Zayn was hesitant to give Melo the title shot, but eventually did it.

During the US Title match in the main event of SmackDown, Sami Zayn beat Carmelo Hayes while Hayes was getting checked on by the referee against the turnbuckle. Melo was selling a left knee injury during the match. Zayn took advantage of the situation and hit a Helluva Kick on Melo to win.

After the match, Trick Williams and Lil Yachty walked into the ring with Sami Zayn. Yachty congratulated Zayn, saying it’s Trick Williams against the Gingerbread Man. Trick punched Zayn, knocking him down. Yachty held Zayn, and Trick hit a running Trick Shot knee to knock Zayn down. Trick celebrated with the US Title, and the fans cheered. That’s how SmackDown ended.

Trick Williams Holding US Title Without Winning It May Be A Bad Omen

While appearing on Busted Open Radio after SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry was critical of Trick Williams holding the US Title.

“Oh man, you know what that means. That’s the kiss of death right there.

You don’t ever touch the title, don’t do it, never hold a title up over your head unless you’ve won it.

Damn it, Trick! Now Danhausen is going to have to come out there and curse his ass, because he’s already cursed.”

It’s certainly possible that Mark Henry was being a bit sarcastic with those comments, but there are people who believe in the “don’t touch the championship unless you win it” idea as well.
