In a week littered with special appearances on various brands, a major WWE name will be returning to do just that on SmackDown.

It seems that there’s a clear strategy to stack next week’s WWE cards, with the crossovers particularly noticeable on NXT. Already confirmed are Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes and John Cena, whilst ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ Asuka will be in action against Roxanne Perez.

A new video has also teased that The Undertaker may well make an appearance on the black and gold brand as well as being in attendance at the WWE Performance Center.

However, Friday Night SmackDown is now getting its own care and attention with two major appearances announced on last night’s show.

Triple H, Reigns And More On SmackDown

Perhaps the most significant of these announcements was the return of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, who last competed in a WWE ring and SummerSlam and will now seemingly be back to set up a title defense at Crown Jewel.

The other special appearance announced on last night’s show was that of WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H. It was announced as just that – a special appearance – with no other details given as to the nature of his involvement in the show.

At this point in time there is only one actual contest announced for the show, which will see Butch and Ridge Holland of the Brawling Brutes take on Pretty Deadly. This will mark Elton Prince’s first match since July, as he’s been recovering from a shoulder injury since then.
