Tony Khan Comments On Goldberg’s Free Agent Status

Tony Khan is taking notice after it emerged that former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg is now a free agent after his WWE deal came to an end.

In October 2022, Goldberg revealed that his contract with WWE would be up at the end of that year and it has now been confirmed that he did not sign an extension.

Fightful Select has reported that Goldberg’s WWE contract did indeed expire at the end of 2022 and no deal was ever reached to extend or renew the deal.

Speaking to The Bet Las Vegas, AEW boss Tony Khan was asked if he’d be interested in the WCW icon becoming All Elite:

“I have a lot of respect for Bill. I think Bill Goldberg is a great professional athlete and has had a great career in pro wrestling and is a very nice person. He’s a household name in pro wrestling, so it’s interesting to hear that he is a free agent so that’s something to follow. He’s one of the biggest names in wrestling and certainly will be something else to keep an eye on for us.”

“Bill is an exceptionally exciting name and one of the biggest names in the sport. It’s certainly a big thing for us to pay attention to. I would take notice of that. It’s interesting.”

Goldberg recently explained that he believed WWE “owed” him one last match but went on to say that he could have a retirement bout with or without them.
