Tony Khan Breaks Silence On Popular AEW Star’s Injury
Tony Khan has reacted to an injury suffered by a popular AEW star.
On the October 11 edition of AEW Collision, Kota Ibushi battled Josh Alexander, but unfortunately, the match didn’t go as planned.
While Alexander had Ibushi in a Fireman’s Carry position on the middle rope in the corner, the pair lost balance and fell backwards out of the ring. Once they’d crashed to the floor, Ibushi immediately grabbed his leg, and Alexander got back in the ring as his rival was counted out.
Ibushi was quickly checked on by medical staff, as Kenny Omega came to check on his friend. The star was then taken away on a stretcher and into a waiting ambulance.
Tony Khan Shows Love To Kota Ibushi
In a post on social media, Tony Khan was quick to pay tribute to Ibushi, describing him as one of the greatest wrestlers he’s ever seen.
We are all very grateful for The Golden Star @ibushi_kota.
In my opinion, he’s one of the greatest wrestlers that I’ve ever seen. He is adored by the AEW locker room + fans worldwide.
We wish him the best as he recovers from the leg injury he suffered on #AEWCollision tonight!
Ibushi has endured an injury-hit run since sustaining a serious shoulder injury back in 2021. The star didn’t return to the ring for 18 months, but disaster struck again in January 2024 when he suffered a major ankle injury while dealing with an existing ankle issue.
Although he returned to the ring later that year, Ibushi has only wrestled 15 times since.
