Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) Addresses AEW In-Ring Future
Adam Copeland has finally opened up about his in-ring future in AEW.
Adam Copeland has had a storied career in the professional wrestling business. He first became a household name due to his time in the WWE, where he was a multi-time World Champion. Copeland had to retire in 2011 due to cervical spinal stenosis.
However, he made his return at the 2020 Royal Rumble. A few years ago, he left the WWE and signed with AEW. Since then, he has won the TNT Championship and is also currently one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions with Christian Cage. Given that Adam Copeland is approaching the tail end of his career, he can’t avoid discussions surrounding his retirement.
Adam Copeland discusses his post-retirement plans
During a recent appearance on SHAK Wrestling, Adam Copeland said that once he retires, he is going to spend more time at the lake with his children and sit in the mountains while doing occasional acting gigs.
“What it looks like has always been the same, I’m going to go to the lake, I’m gonna sail my boat, drag the kids behind me on the little floating couch and sit in the mountains, and do occasional acting gigs. That’s pretty much gonna be the extent of it, and just be dad and be husband.
The former WWE star further revealed that the timeline for his retirement has shifted after he injured his leg. However, he is in touch with Tony Khan about taking on acting gigs while also competing in the ring.
“In terms of the timeline, that’s shifted and had to change. I broke my leg, that put me out for a bit, and filming Beekeeper, filming Percy Jackson.
But the amazing part here is that Tony and I sit down and we map a way to try and pull it all off, and he’s understanding of that too, which is really nice. To be able to kind of try and juggle two careers, because I never did this before. When I started acting, I retired from wrestling, so I’ve never tried to kind of balance the two. And it can be difficult at times, but, thankfully, I have a boss who wants me to do it still, and that’s huge. That’s huge, it’s massive.”
Adam Copeland also said that there are plenty of dream matches for him to have. He named The Young Bucks, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay as some possible opponents.
“So, in terms of timeline, I don’t know, but I know that 95% of those matches I want to have are still out there to have, which is pretty cool. FTR was on there, The Young Bucks are on there, there’s a bunch of teams on there. And there’s all the solo matches I haven’t got to dip into yet, between (Swerve) Swerve and (Will) Ospreay and (Kyle) Fletcher and (Samoa) Joe, Hangman (Adam Page), there’s so much to work with and have fun.” [H/T WrestleTalk.com]
It remains to be seen if Adam Copeland will get to have those dream matches in the near future.
