TKO May Have A Secret Role In Brock Lesnar’s Possible WWE Retirement
Brock Lesnar officially retired from WWE on April 19, 2026, following his loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
After the match, which saw The Ruler dominate, Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring, a symbolic gesture signaling his retirement. WWE later moved him from the active roster to the Alumni section on its website.
During WWE Backlash on May 9, commentator Wade Barrett also confirmed that Lesnar has hung up his boots. There were earlier rumors about a possible farewell match at SummerSlam 2026 in his hometown of Minneapolis, but WWE has not formally solidified his retirement status beyond these indications.
Meanwhile, Jeff Jarrett shared his perspective on the situation during his My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast. He suggested that TKO Group Holdings may have attempted to renegotiate Lesnar’s contract, and instead of accepting new terms, Lesnar chose to step away from WWE.
If they want him (Brock Lesnar) gone, there is no leverage. He’s gone. He said, ‘Hey, I’m out of here. No need to even talk about SummerSlam, you’re not gonna pay me. It’s fixed revenue. No need.’ So, what do you mean?”
Paul Heyman Had No Idea About Brock Lesnar’s Retirement Plans at WrestleMania 42
One of the people who has been closest to Brock Lesnar during his time in WWE is his advocate, Paul Heyman, and even Heyman did not know about his retirement.
Speaking to TMZ, Heyman said he had no idea that Lesnar was planning to hang up his wrestling boots at WrestleMania. He added that if he knew, he would’ve never said that Lesnar was going to dominate professional wrestling for the next 15 years in an earlier interview.
If I knew he was gonna retire, would I have gone on record saying he was gonna dominate for the next 15 years?? I was crying. Am I that good of an actor that I can cry on cue?? Not I.”
