“The Title We Need To See Cody Rhodes Win Is Roman Reigns'” Says Ex-WWE Star

Cody Rhodes crossrhodes Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes was supposed to finish his story at WrestleMania and hold the title that his father Dusty Rhodes never held but just like so often in The American Dream’s career, an enforcer got in the way.

But it wasn’t Arn Anderson that stopped Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, it was The Bloodline’s own enforcer Solo Sikoa that dropped Rhodes with a Samoan Spike leaving him at the mercy of Roman Reigns and his Spear as The Tribal Chief continued his dominant reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

With the WWE Draft taking place and a brand split once again going to be in force, Triple H introduced a new WWE World Heavyweight Title for the brand that Reigns did not end up on. With Roman Reigns drafted to SmackDown once again, that means Raw will get the new world title and the red brand will also be the home to Cody Rhodes. But that doesn’t mean everyone thinks The American Nightmare should win the new world title.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the AEW star remains adamant that fans will only be satisfied when they see Rhodes dethrone Reigns for his championship:

“I still think the title we need to see Cody win is Roman Reigns’. He ultimately has to win that at the end of the day. He needs to be the guy to unseat him. If you really want to make him the face of the company, and I think he’s a guy who there’s a huge argument for making him the face of the company currently. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I think someone else greatly benefits from winning the World Heavyweight title. And we’ll see what the future holds for Cody Rhodes.”

The inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion – with this title – will be crowned at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27th.
