Thunder Rosa Backstage At AEW Dynamite, Update On Return Timetable

A new report reveals that Thunder Rosa was backstage for the latest AEW Dynamite and provides on update on when she might return to the ring!

Thunder Rosa hasn’t been seen on AEW television since just before AEW All Out when she announced that she would be stepping away from competition due to injury. Instead of her planned match with Rosa at All Out, Toni Storm was crowned the Interim AEW Women’s Champion in a fatal four way match, and reigned until losing the title to Jamie Hayter at AEW Full Gear.

The Wednesday after Full Gear saw an announcement on AEW Dynamite that despite saying she would return “soon” back in November, Thunder Rosa was being stripped of the title due to the severity of her injury, and both Storm and Hayter’s reigns would now be considered in the lineage of the AEW Women’s Championship instead of being in the history books as interim reigns.

According to a new report from PWInsider, Thunder Rosa was backstage for the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, which took place in her hometown of San Antonio. However, it doesn’t appear La Mera Mera will be returning to in-ring competition any time soon as she’s still dealing with an ongoing back injury. According to the report, Rosa isn’t likely to return until well after the New Year, possibly not until February or March.

This timeline is in line with a previous report that stated the star was likely to be out until February, and her long absence was the reason she was stripped of the AEW Women’s Championship as the company felt having an interim champion for that long was not beneficial.
