Despite his last WWE appearance coming in March 2025, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson remains a hotly discussed company talent.

As expected, he arrived at the Elimination Chamber in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he demanded that Cody Rhodes align with him. Rhodes brutally turned him down, which did not end well for The American Nightmare.

In a shocking turn of events, John Cena viciously attacked Rhodes, turning heel for the first time in over two decades.

The Rock was expected to return at WrestleMania 41, but that did not happen. In fact, subsequent reports even claimed a backstage disagreement at WrestleMania caused him to walk away.

Now, another update concerning the 53-year-old has emerged. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that Johnson has not considered contributing to the creative storylines in any way.

Meanwhile, there had been discussions about a Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III match at WrestleMania 42. Both superstars previously fought each other at WrestleManias 39 and 40.

Although it now appears that WWE has decided to move in another direction, with Rhodes dropping the title to Drew McIntyre.

The Rock Loses Out On Academy Awards Nomination

The Rock has been involved in Hollywood projects since the early 2000s. After two decades of relentless work in the industry, there was a buzz about his latest movie, The Smashing Machine, where he portrayed MMA legend Mark Kerr.

Following the film’s release, the former WWE Champion earned rave reviews from critics for his performance, with some even giving their nod to an Oscar nomination.

While The Rock received a Golden Globe nomination, his name did not feature in the list of the Best Actor category.

Despite missing out, the Hollywood star remains upbeat about future projects, one of which is a movie by Martin Scorsese.
