The Rock Gaining Backstage Influence In WWE

The Rock

The Rock’s influence in WWE is growing as a new report suggests the wrestling legend has a lot of influence on the WWE Hall of Fame.

There are four names officially announced for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2024. Legendary wrestling manager/booker Paul Heyman was up first followed by a Japanese wrestling legend Bull Nakano and earlier today it was the US Express tag team of Mike Rotunda & Barry Windham.

The 2024 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on Friday, April 5th in Philadelphia after Smackdown ends.

What makes the 2024 Hall of Fame class historic is that it’s the first year where former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon isn’t involved in it in any way. McMahon is no longer associated with WWE due to the sex scandal lawsuit against him, which means that WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque is leading the way just like he does with the creative process.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is on the TKO/WWE Board of Directors, is a part of WWE’s decision-making process when it comes to the Hall of Fame as well. The Rock isn’t just one of the best wrestlers ever, but he’s a lifelong fan who grew up watching his father Rocky Johnson and grandfather “High Chief” Peter Maivia wrestling for decades before he ever stepped foot in a ring.

Fightful noted that The Rock’s influence would be evident when the planned inductees are revealed as scheduled. There was no additional information about what that means. It was also added that it hasn’t been confirmed if The Rock has had a say in the entire WWE Hall of Fame class.

One name that The Rock apparently did suggest is Lia Maivia, who is The Rock’s later grandmother and she was a well-known wrestling promoter as well.

The Rock Expected To Wrestle At WrestleMania 40 In Tag Team Match

On the March 1st episode of WWE SmackDown, The Rock shot down Cody Rhodes’ challenge for a singles match and instead pitched a tag team match for WrestleMania 40. It will be The Rock & Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns against Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

Everybody involved in the potential match will be in attendance on the March 8th Smackdown in Dallas where they should make the WrestleMania 40 match official.
