The Miz Reveals Scrapped Tag Team With Late Wrestling Star

The Miz WrestleMania

The Miz continues to exist as one of WWE’s most underappreciated superstars.

Despite being a 2-time Grand Slam Champion, the 45-year-old often flies under the radar when it comes to being liked by wrestling fans.

One of his standout features is that he has achieved success not only as a singles competitor, but also as a tag team player. He has won 7 tag titles on the main roster with as many as 6 different partners.

During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, The Miz revealed another potential tag team pairing that never saw the light of day.

The former United States Champion revealed that there were plans of him pairing up with Tough Enough III co-winner Matt Cappotelli as The Reality Check.

Matt Capotelli came down to Deep South, and we never met, never talked. And once we tagged, it was electric. It was awesome. I was like, ‘Oh my god, like there’s chemistry here.’ And this guy is so good, so nice and fun. We were going to get called up. I remember we were going to get vignettes and I was writing vignettes. … We were going to be The Reality Check, just causing chaos amongst everyone, the entire tag division.

Cappotelli sadly passed away in 2018 after being detected with a type of brain cancer. In 2006, he had a tumor removed from his brain.

The Miz Admits To A Major Flaw In His Character

The Miz signed with WWE in 2004 before making his main roster debut in 2006. Like every other wrestler, he has been a babyface and a heel.

On the podcast, he confessed to a major flaw in his on-screen character, revealing that it does not work as a babyface.

My character doesn’t really work as a babyface, if I’m being honest. It’s a person that can lose, and then the next day, you’ll forget about that loss, because I’ll just cut a promo and just make you believe.

But with the babyface, babyfaces can’t really lose a lot. If a babyface loses too much, you lose [appeal].
