Tama Tonga recently entered his second reign as a WWE champion.

On the January 23 edition of SmackDown, Tonga teamed up with Solo Sikoa to take on Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of The Wyatt Sicks for the Tag Team Championship.

The Sicks had been feuding with the MFTs for a few weeks, their exchanges often ending in staredowns and some fisticuffs.

A couple of weeks ago, both teams had fought in an 8-man tag team match, where Sikoa caused a distraction by using Uncle Howdy’s lantern, costing the latter the match.

Since then, the MFTs have had the lantern in their possession, using it to play mind games with their rivals, especially Howdy.

The lantern would again play a role in the latest episode of the blue brand, as Solo Sikoa used it to hit Dexter Lumis, making him dizzy. Tama Tonga then hit his Cutthroat finisher for the successful pinfall.

The 43-year-old took to Instagram, sharing a picture of himself with Solo Sikoa, holding their newly won tag titles.

In doing so, he also gave themselves a new name, “Tama2Times,” referencing his second championship win.

Tama Tonga Teases Feud With Shinsuke Nakamura

Before clinching the tag titles, Tama Tonga teased revisiting his feud with Shinsuke Nakamura from their New Japan Pro Wrestling days by interacting with him in backstage segments over multiple weeks.

Their exchange was centered around the United States Championship, which is currently held by Carmelo Hayes.

Nakamura answered the US Championship open challenge a couple of times, once during Ijla Dragunov’s reign and a few days ago against Hayes.

Tonga, on the other hand, was featured in backstage segments with Dragunov, but never answered the challenge.

It remains to be seen if he answers Hayes’ challenge in the upcoming weeks, aiming to become a double champion.
