Steve Austin Says WWE Dream Match Won’t Happen
Despite wrestling a who’s who of top names in the industry, Steve Austin admits it’s disappointing he never locked up with one star.
Whilst many will no doubt lean towards The Rock being the greatest adversary of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, over the years it’s hard to think of anyone he hasn’t wrestled in the top tier, also crossing paths with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H and even Vince McMahon. However, he admits that the chance to go up against John Cena has probably passed by.
In a discussion on Ryan Satin’s Out Of Character podcast, Steve Austin admitted that he has a lot of respect for John Cena, but the match is now not going to happen.
Working with him would have been a real highlight. I had a bunch of highlights. It would have been a real special thing because there’s something about John that people get so invested in his matches. He’s a very special talent. It would have been great to have a match with him. But will it ever happen? No, but I think very highly of John.
Despite making a comeback at WrestleMania 38 last year to take on Kevin Owens in the main event of the first night, it has been reported that there will be no further matches for ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’. However, during the interview Austin did tease that he might not be completely done just yet.
