Despite being a top star in WWE, Roman Reigns faces the risk of repetitive segments, according to an industry veteran.

Following his World Heavyweight Championship victory over CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, Reigns was involved in a rivalry with his cousin, Jacob Fatu. Their feud culminated in a match at Backlash on May 9, which ended in a victory for the Original Tribal Chief.

On Monday, the main event was scheduled to be a Roman Reigns acknowledgment ceremony, as announced by WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce.

While Fatu was supposed to acknowledge Reigns as his Tribal Chief, the segment did not go down that route.

Initially, The Usos intended to convince Fatu against going to the ring, knowing his hot-headed nature. As a result, Jey Uso stayed backstage to confront The Samoan Werewolf, whereas Jimmy Uso accompanied the champion to the ring.

Just as Reigns was acknowledging the Knoxville audience, Fatu’s van pulled up. An angry Jacob Fatu attacked Jey and took a similar approach with Jimmy.

A brawl shortly broke out between him and the OTC, which ended in Fatu using the dreaded Tongan Death Grip again before putting Reigns through the commentator’s table.

Roman Reigns Pulled From June WWE Shows A “Clerical Error”

The amount of power Roman Reigns holds in WWE is a hotly debated subject in the wrestling world.

In 2025, he competed in only 7 matches despite being a contracted wrestler on the company’s roster. It led to fans discussing how much pull he had on his television appearances.

Of late, Reigns has taken on a more part-time role, which some fans believe he has earned; others claim that since he is the champion on a brand, his appearances should be frequent.

In early May, reports claimed that Reigns was being pulled from all WWE shows for the month of June. However, the Stamford promotion later called it a “clerical error” while announcing new dates for Reigns’ appearance.

Roman Reigns has now been confirmed for the following dates:

  • June 1: Turin, Italy
  • June 15: Baltimore, Maryland
  • June 29: Atlantic City, New Jersey

Is Roman Reigns A Victim Of Repetitive TV Segments?

While Roman Reigns has made multiple appearances in 2026, his approach has been repetitive, according to an industry insider.

Speaking on The Coach & Bro podcast, Vince Russo criticized the creative team for writing him in similar segments while making only minimal changes.

Russo’s comment came as a warning, who also claimed that fans no longer attend the live tapings to see the Tribal Chief.

I love Roman Reigns. People are done tuning in to see Roman Reigns…not one of the person is gonna tune into any of these shows because Roman Reigns is gonna be on the show, because what does that mean? What it means is at the end of the night, somebody’s gonna be in the ring with Roman Reigns, there’s gonna be a promo cut, and then somebody’s gonna get heat. We’ve seen that a million freaking times. That is not a selling point anymore. [1:04:55 onwards]
